Most people never even notice or even know about the wetlands that are on the Indian lake peninsula, but after a long rainstorm they will be filled with an enormous amount of water.
Naturally they attract lots of wildlife but also pests such as mosquito’s. Imagine moving into your new house unaware it is located near a swamp. You might say : No way – not me , but it does happen. After a good long hot spell these areas are nice and dry and show no signs of what can happen when it rains. Some are very small and only fill up when very heavy rains come. After the historic floods of 2010, I have identified many areas that are prone to flooding and they have nothing to do with the lake/Cumberland river. The houses that had problems in H’ville during the historic rains of 2010 were on/near wetlands or small creeks/drainage’s and their owners were unaware of the potential problems.
